Welcome to the Smokies!

In the last week, we have been actively exploring the Smokies, gathering a plethora of experiences to share! Between adapting to the RV life, working full-time jobs, studying, managing day-to-day life, and adventuring, the blog had to go on pause for just a moment. That said, one of our major objectives for this journey was to share, so without further ado, we give you the Great Smoky Mountain National Park!

Consisting of a section of the Appalachian Mountains nestled between Tennessee and North Carolina, The Great Smoky Mountain National Park is the most visited National Park in the United States… and for good reason. Spanning over half a million acres, this gorgeous monster of a National Park boasts the striking geological dynamic of a mountain range, carpeted in green by a forest primarily consisting mainly of deciduous trees. The Smokies are home to an abundant diversity of wildlife, including the greatest population density of the oh-so-cool black bear in the whole of the Eastern United States. On top of all of that, the park is full of tangible history, from cabins and mills dating back to the 1800s, to the abundant, impressive works and vestigial camp ruins of the CCC from the 1930s and 40s. Combine all of this with the fact that half of the population of the United States is within a relatively short distance of this park, and you can imagine that it draws quite the crowd!

In the upcoming barrage of posts, we will play catchup on the number of amazing adventures that we have already had in the Smokies, some of our growing pains in the RV life, and some hard lessons that we have learned in the journey thus far! So come along, and witness the glory and pain of the first big stop on our adventure!
