1. Garden of the Gods
We were repeat visitors at Garden of the Gods during our stay in Colorado Springs. The trails and walking paths are well maintained and we loved how the look of each feature varied when visiting a different times of the day. We even made an evening visit and got to view the night sky through telescopes set up by the Colorado Springs Astronomical Society. Very cool!
The large rocks of Garden of the Gods are beautiful from both afar and up close.
A stop at the Nature and Visitor Center is well worth your time. They have great information on the area and locally made, unique merchandise available for sell at the gift shop.
Mandatory selfie pic!
A popular destination for rock climbers. If you look close, you can spy 3 or 4.
Our failed rock climbing attempt.
An attempt at some artistic / marketing type photography.
Gotta show some love to Traci’s Label Insight peeps!
The moon over the rocks made for so many picture worthy moments.
Kissing Camels rock
Scotty & Traci rock interpretation. Nailed it!
Scotty discovered stairs on top of this rock. We’re pretty sure he may have been the last to step upon them, because…
This sign was up the very next day. Oops!
We swear…there was no sign when Scotty went climbing.
A gorgeous place to watch the sunset and look out over the city.
Traci’s cousin (Jordan - right) and friend (Noah - left) joined us while visiting Colorado Springs!
Walking through the garden after sunset was beautiful, with the moon silhouetting the rocks.
2. Pike’s Peak
Scotty trying to get a better view of his surroundings.
Beautiful fall colors throughout the forest.
Can you believe people race up this mountain on these curves?!
We made it to the top!
Stunning views!
3. Winter Weather in an RV
Although we enjoyed our time in Colorado Springs, we ended up cutting our stay short when the forecast dropped to single digit temperatures for 5 straight days. We have not taken the steps to fully winterize our RV (as ideally we will be dodging cold weather). Therefore, after withstanding several nights of cold weather, we decided to leave a week early and head south to Santa Fe. The beauty of having a home on wheels is that you can roll on to warmer weather and new adventures whenever you like.
What we thought our stay in Colorado Springs was going to look like. The sunsets were gorgeous.
What we actually experienced over several days.
Our propane tank got a bit of a workout.
We still enjoyed ourselves and used it as a learning experience. We’ll be better prepared next time around.
